The Portable Museum is an art project taking place at Worringerplatz in Düsseldorf.
It uses augmented reality to move works of art into public spaces, which can be discovered - sometimes obviously, sometimes hidden - using a specially programmed application.
Every visitor can see the graffiti painted on the floor, which is a replica of Michelangelo's signature. A 3D object can be detected by pointing a smartphone camera at a graffiti marker. The augmented reality app Portable Museum plays with the boundaries of the visible and the real and is a transformation of the concept of art in public space.
