Monument For a Wave is a multi-media installation as part of the group exhibition Agua del día at El Quinto Piso in Mexico City curated by Rodrigue Mouchez in 2018. In collaboration with Ben Van den Berghe, sculpture by After Howl. 

Although natural disasters can be studied, the actual moment of a particular catastrophe, still remains mostly unpredictable. Thus nature - as in all times - keeps us in its spell of fascination and awe. In the case of a tsunami, people are often so impressed and awed by the beauty and power of the impossibly huge waves, that they postpone the urge to panic and are lost in the destructive powers of the water and nature as a whole.

This complex relationship with nature, and particularly with water, is the object of the installation. The artists created an artistic capture of a water lab that simulates unpredictably huge waves (freak waves). A large wallpaper depicts the very moment a wave seems to break the window glass of the lab and flood the exhibition space.
