Pavel Gavrilenko

Realist artist, graphic artist.

He worked in easel painting, mainly in the genres of subject-thematic painting, portrait, and landscape. Works about revolutionary events, everyday work, and the exploits of partisans during the war.

The artist’s works form an integral part in the collection of works by Belarusian artists of the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus and private collections in Belarus and abroad.

Lived and worked in Minsk.

Born in the village of Kostyukovka (Russian Empire, now Gomel region, Republic of Belarus).

After serving in the Red Army, he entered the Vitebsk Art College, where he studied with V. Rutsay, M. Ende and F. Vogt.

Since 1927

Participated in exhibitions.

1928-1930

He was one of the organizers of the youth association of the Association of Revolutionary Artists in Vitebsk.

Late 1920s

He taught at the Vitebsk Art College.

1930

After graduation , he moved to Minsk.

1933–1936

He was the chairman of the organizing committee of the Union of Soviet Artists of the BSSR.

1942-1944

Lived and worked in Moscow.

Deputy of the Supreme Council of the BSSR.

He was the chairman of the Union of Artists of the BSSR.
