Prison Album

Pushkin Ales: "Prison album", Minsk, 2019. Human rights center Vyasna/ publishing series: Belarusian prison literature. 106 p.

Articles on KALEKTAR

The prison album of the Belarusian non-conformist artist consists of drawings made by Ales Pushkin during his administrative arrest in Smargoni and Minsk detention centers for actions commemorating the memory of 22-year-old anti-Soviet resistance fighter Rostislav Lapitsky, who was shot in the fall of 1950. The extraordinary personality of the artist Ales Pushkin is well known in the country and outside of it, first of all, with sensational performances from the time of studying at the Theater and Art Institute (now the Academy of Arts) in Minsk. Freedom, independence not only in thoughts, but also in actions - this is his credo. Ales received his first administrative "days" in 1989 for calls to come to the first "Grandfathers". Ales Pushkin was sentenced to 2 years of suspended imprisonment under the criminal article for the performance, timed to the day of the proclamation of the Belarusian People's Republic on March 25, 1918, held in 1989 in response to the prohibition of the management of the university to hold an exhibition dedicated to the Belarusian People's Republic. The next crime scene in 10 years for a cart of manure to the building of the presidential administration with the inscription "For five years of fruitful work" - this is the artist's gratitude to Lukashenka on the day of the end of his first presidential term on July 21, 1999.
