January 13, 1875
Born in Brest-Litovsk (Russian Empire (Grodno province), now Brest, Republic of Belarus) in the family of a military engineer. Members of this family belonged to the legendary ancient family of Eleozorovs. Stelletsky spent his childhood on his father’s estate, not far from Belovezhskaya Pushcha.
1896
The Stelletsky family settled in St. Petersburg on Vasilyevsky Island. In the same year, the artist entered the Higher Art School at the Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg. Initially he was enrolled in the architectural department. But quickly enough he became interested in sculpture and moved to the sculpture department.
Since 1900
Periodically he traveled to ancient Russian cities and monasteries, traveled around the Russian North, recording his impressions and making sketches of monastery frescoes and icons.
1903
While studying at the Academy of Arts, he received the title of artist-sculptor and a silver academic badge for the sculptural group “Prisoners”.
1904
After graduating from college , he went to Paris. He attended the R. Julien Academy and intended to get a job at the Sèvres manufactory, but he failed and returned to Russia. He worked in the workshop of M.K. Tenisheva in Talashkino on full board.
1907
With financial support from B. M. Kustodiev, he visited Italy. In Venice they managed to take part in an exhibition at which the artist sold his work.
1910
Became a member of the Union of Russian Artists.
1912
Membership in the World of Art society.
1914
I went on a trip to Italy and France. France (the town of La Napoule near Cannes) became his refuge for the rest of his life.
1925
With the participation of D. S. Stelletsky , the Icon Society was organized, which set itself the goal of studying and protecting ancient icons, holding exhibitions of icon painters, and uniting connoisseurs of Russian antiquity.
1931
Helped create the Russian Cultural and Historical Museum in Prague. He created the headpieces for the catalog of the museum's collection, and the museum's exhibition included several portraits of soldiers of the Russian Expeditionary Force and the gouache "Rafts".
February 12, 1947
The artist died in Paris and was buried in the Russian cemetery of Sainte-Genevieve-des-Bois near Paris.
