A course of lectures on contemporary art, prepared for students of Belarusian art institutions. Since the beginning of 2015, the elective has been a part/heading of the KALEKTAR platform.
FAK is a distance elective course in the theory and history of contemporary art. The project was created in 2014 specifically for students of the Belarusian State Academy of Arts, but is also designed for students from other educational art institutions in Belarus, as well as beginners and practitioners in the field of contemporary art. The elective presents a discussion of practices, methodologies, the place of the artist in the system of social and cultural relations. In the form of short lessons, the creators of the elective course and invited authors talk about the system of contemporary art, and also argue the criticism of the conservatism and reactionary nature of art education in Belarus.
The elective was created by Belarusian curator Aleksey Borisyonok, Russian curator Maria Kotlyachkova and Belarusian artist and curator Sergei Shabokhin (on his initiative) in autumn 2014. FAK was originally launched as an online blog on the tumblr.com platform.
