Graphic artist, painter.

The first works of the artist belong to the field of book graphics. Since the mid-1920s he was mainly engaged in painting. He painted portraits, landscapes and scenes from urban life, narrative works. An important place in his work belonged to the theme of ballet, the life of ballerinas on stage and behind the scenes of the theater.

He actively exhibited at the Tuileries Salon, Salon d'Automne, Salon des Indépendants, and at exhibitions of the National Society of Fine Arts. He has held more than ten solo exhibitions in Paris, London and New York. Participated in exhibitions of Russian art in Berlin, Amsterdam, Paris.

Lived and worked mainly in Paris (France) and Los Angeles (USA).

Born in Vitebsk (Russian Empire, today the Republic of Belarus) in a Jewish family.

1917

He entered the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (now VKHUTEMAS).

Early 1920s

He emigrated to Western Europe, where he changed his real name (Glikman) to the European way (Glukman).

1922

Lived in Berlin; joined the creative association "Spindle", which united Russian cultural figures - writers, artists, musicians - who lived in Germany and advocated the preservation and continuation of the traditions of Russian literature and art.

1923-1924

He studied the monuments of Italian Renaissance and medieval art in Florence.

1924

The artist moved to Paris. The first works of the artist from the field of book graphics appear.

Mid 1920s

Begins to engage mainly in painting. Begins to exhibit his work in Parisian salons and organizes solo exhibitions.

1937

Received a gold medal at the International Exhibition in Paris.

1939

With the outbreak of World War II , he emigrates to New York (USA).

1945

Moves to Los Angeles (USA) and receives American citizenship.

July 23, 1973

Died in Los Angeles.

August 1973

A memorial exhibition dedicated to his memory was held at the Dalzell Hatfield Gallery in Los Angeles.
