Associated Documents

Vulica Brasil is a street art festival in which Brazilian and Belarusian artists turned the streets of Minsk into "galleries" with murals, sculptures, graffiti and other forms of street art.

Over the five years of the festival, 50 murals have appeared, along with sculptures and other forms of public art. Within the framework of the project, training seminars, charity events were held, and a town-planning plan for Oktyabrskaya Street in the center of Minsk was also developed.

Vulica has expanded into a platform for cultural events, exhibitions, festivals and social and environmental projects. The physical and digital collections showcase contemporary and timeless art with a focus on urban art/graffiti/street art/muralism.

After protests due to the rigged presidential elections in Belarus in 2020, the festival was held in smaller formats, and at the moment there is no activity under the project.

2014—2019

The Embassy of Brazil in the Republic of Belarus convinced the local authorities to officially allow monumental street art on the streets of Minsk. Thanks to art objects, Oktyabrskaya Street has become one of the most popular places to visit in Minsk.

During this period, five large-scale festivals were held within the framework of the project.

2022

The mural "Imgnennasts" by Gomel artist Vlad Khvostov (KHVST), created as part of Vulica Brazil in 2019, was destroyed in Minsk.
