Sculptor, teacher.

He worked in the field of easel and monumental sculpture. The main direction is bas-relief.

He became one of the organizers and first teachers of the Minsk Art College and the Belarusian Theater and Art Institute (now the Belarusian State Academy of Arts).

The creation of the memorial complex "Brest Hero Fortress" is associated with the artist's name. For the work "The Mound of Glory of the Soviet Army - the Liberator of Belarus" the sculptor was awarded the State Prize of Belarus.

He was active in social activities. He was elected a member of the Central Committee of the CPB, was a deputy of the Supreme Council, chairman of the board of the Union of Artists of Belarus.

The sculptor was awarded the title of People's Artist of the BSSR.

Lived and worked in Minsk.

Born in the city of Velizh , Vitebsk province (RSFSR, now the city of the Smolensk region of the Russian Federation), where he received his primary education in a male gymnasium.

He studied at the Vitebsk Art College under Kerzin.
