In 1970-1980, a parallel artistic environment was formed in Minsk, initiated by the activities of the tandem of artists Igor Kashkurevich and Lyudmila Rusova, who gathered the cultural audience of Minsk in their suburban home for "initiation" into contemporary art. Then these meetings were transferred to Minsk: the artists created the "Pluralis" group. The meetings were held on the basis of the theater "Christopher" and were open to everyone. In addition to educational activities, the artists actively participated in performances, discovering a stylistic connection, on the one hand, with modern Western art (in particular, with Joseph Beuys), and on the other hand, with the traditions of the Vitebsk avant-garde of the early twentieth century.
