The works were created as part of my project "In the Beginning There Were Only Words," in which I start with a phrase that resonates with me in some way. I make a stamp from this phrase and stamp it with multiple layers until the words are illegible, transforming the words into paint and image. I often complement the works with oil paint (which, by its very nature, always resembles living "flesh"), achieving the desired effect of embedding graphic typographic layers into the "space of the gaze." For these works, I found a quote from a poem by Yanka Kupala (who once worked in this area): "My native field is a millionth part." I also use the phrase "A few more layers, and you won't be able to read this anymore," which illustrates my concept and strategy. This building, with its library in the entryways, seemed particularly appropriate for these phrases. The developers' attention to the history of the site itself also shaped my choice of color scheme and theme.
In the context of this space, I wanted to create highly abstract panels, where the viewer could, if desired, decipher the entire "multilayered" concept through mere hints. One possible interpretation was a poorly painted-over graffiti in a building entrance, for example (for this purpose, I enlarged the font on one of the works), but at the same time, I wanted it all to resemble some classical genre of fine art. Based on all of the above, I considered giving the work a title unnecessary.
