The Society of Fine Arts Lovers was founded in Minsk in 1898. It united musicians, artists, journalists, lovers of dramatic art. The society planned to establish a music and art school, open a library-reading room. The musical section of the society had its own orchestra, organized dance evenings with musical and literary departments, as well as public concerts for the residents of Minsk.

Members of the society were engaged in organizing exhibitions of paintings and other works of art, as well as holding literary evenings and secular educational events. Members of the Minsk Society of Fine Arts Lovers held their meetings in the Minsk mansion, now known as the Lensky House.

In the last years of the existence of the society, its members began to systematically conduct political agitation at their meetings aimed at destroying the unity of the Russian Empire.

In March 1906, the Minsk Society of Fine Arts Lovers was closed at the direction of the official city authorities, as it turned from an artistic and literary society into a political one. Since 1917, the printing house of the Zemsky Union operated in the Lensky house.
