Military figure of the Republic of Poland, national hero in Belarus, USA, Lithuania and Poland. Participant in the struggle of the Commonwealth of Nations with Russia and Prussia, as well as the American War of Independence. The leader of the national liberation uprising of 1794 in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth against the Russian-Prussian occupation of the country.
He was enrolled in the Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture. There, Kosciuszko studied drawing and painting, and also took architectural lessons from the famous French architect Jean-Rodolphe Pernay. Although his career went in a different direction, he continued to draw and paint pictures throughout his life.
