Born in the village of Martonosha , Kirovograd region, Novo-Mirgorodsky district (Ukrainian SSR, now Ukraine).

1951-1957

He studied at the Chisinau Art College .

1966

Graduated from the Belarusian State Theater and Art Institute (now the Belarusian State Academy of Arts). At the same time, he began working as a decorator at the Theater for Young Spectators.

1976

He became the chief artist of the Yanka Kupala National Academic Theatre.

1977

Received the title of Honored Art Worker of Belarus .

1990

He became the People's Artist of Belarus .

1991

He began teaching at the Belarusian State Academy of Arts.

1998

Was awarded the title of professor .

2008

For his great personal contribution to the development of theatrical art, he was awarded the Order of Francysk Skaryna .

“I am always very interested in the search, that state when I still can’t determine what I need and what I don’t, when I can fly, fantasize and not think that I don’t have enough money for my castles in the air and unusual ships. Such a state can probably be compared with the state of anticipation of love.
