  • A group of architects and plastic artists who advocated a break with traditional forms in architecture and fine arts. In the field of construction, industrialization and standardization of construction was carried out in order to provide cheap, comfortable housing for average earnings. This program showed much in common with the Weimar Bauhaus, the Dutch De Stijl and the Moscow Vkhutemas.

The ideas of the Praesens group were realized in the 1930s in the residential complex Warszawska Spółdzielnia Mieszkaniowa in Warsaw's Rakoviec district. Members of the group also realized many other objects that today are classics of Polish modernism.
