Anna Chkolnikova

1976

Artist.

In her works, Anna Shkolnikova invariably builds on the situation and the specifics of the space. Very often she works with the floor of the space, creating installations that can be walked on. Also, many of her works are exhibited almost in the dark. The materials from which she creates her works are, on the one hand, ephemeral and short-lived, and on the other, they are endowed with attractive optics. Uneven and oscillating concrete tiles are tempting to touch, amorphous objects on the floor turn out to be bound from pleasant-to-touch linen rope when viewed in the light, the patterns on the wall are made with chalk, the ornaments in the installation Dragon (2005) the artist washed out of the dust on the cement floor.

Lives and works in Berlin.
