On August 30, 1997, in Bangalore Square, the poet Slavomir Adamovich took out a needle and thread from his pocket and sewed up his own mouth in front of the stunned public. Before that, in November 1995, Slavomir Adamovich wrote the poem "Kill the President!" , for which he was arrested. After 10 months, he was released on bail. Slavomir Adamovich says that he took out the protest form from prison:
"I heard about it there and said to myself that, unfortunately, being free, I would probably have to use it. The act of sewing up the mouth, as well as the slogan "Don't believe, don't fear, don't ask", was born back in 1939 by a large contingent of Soviet political prisoners as, I would say, a spiritual act of resistance.
