Born in the village of Klyuchi , Petrovsky district (Russian Empire, today the Russian Federation).

1910

She graduated from the gymnasium of Princess Obolenskaya, then entered the studio of M. D. Bernstein, where she became interested in cubism and futurism.

1915-1916

She was a member of the futuristic circle "Bloodless Murder" (together with Nikolai Lapshin, one of the founders of the Russian school of illustration in the future). Members of the circle published a magazine of the same name.

1918

Ermolaeva founded the book-printing artel "Today" , which produced small editions of popular prints and picture books, created almost by hand.

1919

The fine arts department of the People's Commissariat of Education sent Ermolaeva to Vitebsk as a teacher at the People's Art School , later transformed into the Vitebsk Art and Practical Institute.

1921

After leaving the post of Marc Chagall, she became the rector of this institute.

1922

Ermolaeva returned to Petrograd , where she received a position as head of the color laboratory at the State Institute of Artistic Culture.

1929

Together with the artists V. Sterligov, K. Rozhdestvensky, L. Yudin, N. Suetin, A. Leporskaya, she made up the "group of pictorial and plastic realism" . Ermolaeva's apartment hosted creative "Tuesdays" of these artists and "apartment" exhibitions, accompanied by discussions. The exhibition activity, which took place in a narrow circle of like-minded people, became the reason for the written denunciation.

March 29, 1935

Convicted in accordance with the decision of the UNKVD. According to the materials of the case, Yermolaeva was accused of "anti-Soviet activity, expressed in the propaganda of anti-Soviet ideas and an attempt to organize an anti-Soviet intelligentsia around herself."
