A journey through the mystical region of Polesia, a marshy land secluded from the rest of the world, sandwiched between the borders of Russia, Ukraine and Poland. Polesia has historically been a stronghold of Belarusian culture, which today faces unprecedented challenges and pressures.

Synopsis

Polesie is a land of meadows and forests, regularly transformed into an impassable archipelago by floods. Time stands still here. Math teacher Misha (55) preserves an ancient method of beekeeping. Baba Katya (76) is a famous "whisperer". Many come to her for healing, but each healing session drains her strength. Father Alexander (32), a priest and former nuclear power plant worker, is trying to restore an old wooden church. He faces opposition from the Russian Orthodox Church, which seeks to ban the Belarusian language from church services. While the heroes live a peaceful life, Polesie, known for its painful history of wars, displacements and nuclear tests, seems to be once again becoming susceptible to the forces of evil.
