Selected dates:
1923
The formation of the Blok group was the result of the Vilnius exhibition "Exhibition of New Art".
1926
The group broke up as a result of ideological disputes . Mechislav Schuka, together with Teresa Zharnoverovna, identified artistic creativity with production work. They postulated the usefulness of art to society, but understood it purely instrumentally. Art was supposed to serve the design of objects, typography, etc. Strzheminsky, Kobro and Stazhevsky saw this utilitarianism in a slightly different way. Art, while maintaining complete autonomy, was supposed to shape human activity.
Władysław Strzeminski, Katarzyna Kobro and Henryk Stazewski left Blok to work with a group of architects called Praesens.
