The study of urban development is reflected in the visual arts. Artistic works can have an impact on the economic, political, social, cultural and environmental aspects of urban space. Modern artists, as residents of the city, have a wide range of influence. They can act as urban, social, environmental activists, workers in the field of culture and the production of goods or services, creators of cultural movements and phenomena, initiators of long-term or temporary projects for the use of the urban area, be related to gentrification processes and to the rethinking of cultural quarters and their participation in urban regeneration and more. Often the artists are presented as a social group working to transform urban design.

In their projects, the authors establish a connection between place, person and culture, reflect on the theme of life in the city, address the feelings and attitudes of a person to the place of everyday stay, ask questions about the future of urban space. There are important discussions related to the rapid process of urbanization and the ecosystem, the impact of the city on nature, as these changes have serious consequences. Art asks questions about a new representation of the city.
