Launching INDEX and ZBOR resources

Today, May 18, 2015, the research platform KALEKTAR officially presents two of its new special projects: the encyclopedia of contemporary Belarusian art INDEX and a collection of essays on artistic statements in Belarusian contemporary art ZBOR.

INDEX

is a dynamic encyclopedia of contemporary Belarusian art based on the research platform.

The encyclopedia is designed as the main tool for organizing and constructing an archive of contemporary Belarusian art, bringing together all the individual projects of the KALEKTAR platform thanks to a specially designed system of pop-up windows/hyperlinks. The data system is filled in according to the principle of an Internet encyclopedia in the form of autonomous information pages about names, key events and institutions in the system of contemporary Belarusian art. A terminological glossary is also being developed.

A large number of experts and participants in the system of Belarusian art, as well as a team of volunteers, are involved in the activities of the encyclopedia.

All new pages are filled in sequentially after being mentioned on the KALEKTAR portal.

ZBOR

is a special resource of the research platform KALEKTAR, which is a constantly updated magazine about artistic expressions created over the past decades.

All publications are specially created by Belarusian critics within the framework of this project and describe specific works of artists, collectives and institutions. ZBOR is one of the platform's key resources and a tool that helps to further construct the archive.

The first publication of the ZBOR resource was symbolically the essay "Galina Moskaleva and Vladimir Shakhlevich: photographic series "Madhouse", 1991–1992".
