The honorary title "People's Artist of Belarus" is awarded not earlier than five years after the awarding of the honorary title "Honored Artist of the Republic of Belarus" to artists who created outstanding works of painting, sculpture, graphics, monumental, decorative and applied, theatrical, film and television art, who made a significant contribution to the national culture and received wide public recognition.
Only 33 people were recognized as People's Artists of Belarus. Of these, only 1 is a woman.
The youngest "folk" was Zair Azgur. He was awarded this title at the age of 36. But the oldest is May Danzig. He received the title only at the age of 81.
The average age of obtaining the title of People's Artist is 59.5 years.
Of the 33 people, 11 were born outside of Belarus.
Of the 33 People's Artists, 19 had painting as their main activity, 9 were sculptors, 5 worked in the theater and were engaged in the creation of scenery and scenography.
