Minsk School of Creative Photography

A cultural phenomenon of photographic art of the late 1980s – 1990s, which united the practices of various photographers around a number of educational photo studios and creative groups: the Minsk photo club studio, the Province group, Panorama, Belarusian Climate, Meta. One of the key communities appeared on the basis of the Minsk studio Province, with the participation of photographer Valery Lobko.The very name Minsk School of Creative Photography was put into practice by the Finnish critic Hannu Eerikainen.The Minsk school of creative photography and its predecessors include photographers: the Belarusian Climate group, Viktor Butra, Mikhail Garus, Anatoly Dudkin, Mikhail Zhilinsky, Viktor Zhuravkov, Viktor Kalenik, Vadim Kachan, Sergei Kozhemyakin, Evgeny Kozyulya, Valery Lobko, Galina Moskoleva, Vladimir Parfyonok, Ivan Petrovich, Igor Savchenko, Alexey Trufanov, Alexander Uglyanitsa, Albert Tsekhanovich, Vladimir Shakhlevich, but not limited to them.

The phenomenon is listed in the catalog "New Wave. Belarusian Photography of the 1990s" (Collection of PARTizan, 2013).
