He graduated from the private art school of Nikolai Pavlovich Shlein in Kostroma.

Graduated from the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (now the Repin State Academic Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, St. Petersburg). Later he transferred to the theater and scenery department.
1938-1951
He was the chief artist of the Tajik Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre.
1951-1955
He worked as the chief artist of the Moscow Mayakovsky Theatre.
1953-1955
He worked as an adviser to the Romanian Ministry of Culture and at the same time as a production designer at the Bucharest Opera House.
1955-1959
He worked as the chief artist of the Chelyabinsk Opera and Ballet Theater named after Glinka.
1956
Joined the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.
1959-1976
He worked as the chief artist of the State Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater of the BSSR.
1960-1991
He taught at the Belarusian State Theater and Art Institute (now the Belarusian State Academy of Arts).
1963
Was awarded the title of People's Artist of the BSSR.
